For 2020, we kept a detailed record of almost 600 matches, in which 858 maps were played. Which maps were the most popular?
We’ll start with a look at the overall maps played, and then we’ll look at the maps played per region.
During 2020, the most popular map was Inferno, which was played 199 times.
Four other maps were played more than 100 times: Mirage (151), Dust2 (128), Nuke (121) and Overpass (108). Train (98) was a close sixth, while Vertigo (53) was clearly the least-favoured map.

Let's look at the maps played in each region now!
EU had arguably the most diverse map pool. Of a total 347 maps played, six maps were played at least 40 times.
Mirage (70) was the most popular, followed by Nuke (67), Train (54), Inferno (52), Overpass (47), Dust2 (40) and Vertigo (17).

Inferno (11) and Train (11) were the most popular of the 47 maps played in NA, followed by Nuke (7), Dust 2 (6) and Mirage (6). Overpass (3) and Vertigo (3) were the least popular maps in NA.

The most maps were played in LATAM, 397. This contributed greatly to Inferno being the most popular map globally, as Inferno (113) was by far the most-played map in LATAM.
Dust2 (66), Mirage (59), Overpass (52) and Nuke (45) were also popular, with teams generally shying away from Train (31) and Vertigo (31).

Finally a region in which Vertigo wasn’t the least popular map! Was it the most popular map then?
Matches in APAC were primarily played on three maps: Inferno (13), Mirage (11) and Dust2 (10). Overpass (3), Train (1) and Vertigo (1) were much less favoured, and Nuke was completely avoided.

With 17 maps on record, there’s not a lot of data to go on for ZA. Inferno (5) and Mirage (5) shared the top spot here, followed by Dust2 (4), Nuke (2) and Train (1).
